Powerful cleaning with surfactants made from CO₂
Email us to arrange a chatThe next step for sustainable cleaning
In many ways, the home care industry has led the way on sustainability. Concentrated formats, cold-wash detergents, alternative ingredients. Since surfactants make up a large share of most cleaning formulas, changing where their carbon comes is the next step.
Recreaire® surfactants replace part of the fossil and oleo feedstock with captured CO₂ while delivering the cleaning performance consumers expect.
Homecare relies on surfactants
- Laundry detergents use surfactants to lift and suspend soil so it rinses away.
- Dishwashing liquids and automatic dishwasher products depend on them to cut grease and prevent spotting.
- Rinse aids rely on low-foaming surfactants for spotless results.
- Hard surface and all-purpose cleaners use surfactants for wetting and fast, streak-free cleaning.

Making surfactants from captured carbon
Most surfactants start with fossil or palm-based feedstocks that are reacted with ethylene oxide.
At Econic, we provide manufacturers with a patented process and unique catalyst that builds CO₂ directly into the surfactant molecule. The result is Recreaire®, a family of carbonate ethoxylate surfactants made with up to 45% CO₂ by weight with as much as a 65% reduction in carbon footprint.
