Redefining essential products for good

Econic transforms CO2 into high-performance products made from renewable carbon. Companies use the Econic process to turn carbon emissions into ingredients that replace oil-based materials in everyday products used in cars, clothes, construction materials, mattresses and more.

Our technology makes products work better and cost less, so billions of people can enjoy modern life with less impact on the planet.

Performance

Make higher-performance products

Econic polyols deliver sustainability without compromising performance – in fact, they often perform better. In polyurethane formulations, Econic polyols make it possible to:

  • Process foams more quickly
  • Make more durable coatings
  • Reduce flame retardants without sacrificing performance

Economic

Competitive, commercially proven and easy to scale

With our process, manufacturers can use recycled CO2 at temperatures and pressures in line with standard production, so energy costs don’t increase. Econic’s technology works with existing manufacturing assets and only requires a few process changes.

Brand owners also enjoy an economic upside with Econic polyols. Products stand out in the market thanks to a better environmental profile and performance that goes beyond standard polyols.

How it all started

Econic Technologies was born from a vision of a future where catalyst chemistry transforms CO2 into high performance products. This vision was crystallised by Professor Charlotte Williams, then at Imperial College London, and now Professor of Inorganic Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Oxford. Today, we have two sites and about 30 employees.
