Econic Technologies is delighted to be named one of the 50 finalists for 2025’s CarbonX Program for its Recreaire® sustainable surfactants platform. CarbonX is spearheaded by one of the world’s most influential internet and technology firms, Tencent, with an aim to accelerate next-generation climate technologies and the capabilities needed for a net-zero world by 2050.
Econic and the other finalists have been selected from more than 660 applicants from across the globe, and will be considered for receiving a share of the $28 million USD prize money. Winners will be announced in 2026. In addition to capital investment, the winners of the program will also receive mentorship and opportunities to launch their technologies where they are needed most urgently.
“Funding and mentorship, like that provided by the CarbonX Program, are game-changing for innovative companies like Econic Technologies,” says Keith Wiggins, Econic Technologies CEO. “We have developed a breakthrough technology with Recreaire, and we need powerful partners who can help us make a big impact in the industry. We’re honoured to be shortlisted in the CarbonX Program, and receive it as the highest compliment.”
About Recreaire
Recreaire offers surfactants producers an economical and sustainable alcohol alternative, allowing them to replace a portion of fossil-based resources with captured carbon. Using captured carbon in the production of surfactants—which are necessary for essential products such as soaps, industrial cleaners, moisturizers, coatings, and lubricants—reduces their carbon footprint by up to 65%. Recreaire surfactants perform equal to, or better than, many conventional surfactants. Recreaire surfactants are made with a scalable high-volume process, and can be produced with existing alkoxylate assets.
