David Morgan

Chairman

David is Econic’s Executive Chairman. He also sits on the boards of a number of other companies, both venture capital backed and publicly listed and is the senior independent director at the Royal Mint.

David has worked at Johnson Matthey plc, holding a number of senior financial and managerial positions, most recently as the executive director of corporate development. His experience includes the catalyst, pharmaceutical and fine chemicals industries.

David is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and has an MA in mineralogy and petrology from Trinity College, Cambridge.


Prof. Charlotte Williams

Chief Scientific Officer

Charlotte is a professor in the Department of Chemistry at Imperial College London and Econic’s CSO. Her research interests are in the area of catalysis and polymer chemistry, including polymerization catalysts, CO2 activation and the catalytic valorisation of renewable resources.

Charlotte’s work has been recognized by medals form the Royal Society of Chemistry (the Meldola Medal, the Energy Environment and Sustainability Award) and the Bio-Environmental Polymer Society. She trained at Imperial College, the University of Minnesota and the University of Cambridge.

Dr. Rowena Sellens

Rowena’s distinguished career in the polymer industry has led to her holding senior management positions in R&D, manufacturing, sales & marketing and general management. Rowena joined Econic from Lucite International where she was firstly Director of Global Research, moving to Commercial Director and then latterly General Manager, EMEA Materials.

Prior to Lucite, Rowena held a variety of senior roles within the ICI group. In addition to her leadership qualities, Rowena has an extensive track record in new product delivery as well as experience commercialising ground-breaking technology.

Richard has extensive experience in sales and market development of new technologies both in the established chemical sector, with BASF, and more recently in emerging bio-based materials, with Ecosynthetix.

In recognition of rapidly increasing market interest in Econic’s catalyst technology, he joins the company to drive forward customer engagement across target markets.

 


Dr. Michael Kember

Research and IP Manager

Mike is a co-inventor of Econic’s catalysts and has been involved in developing the technology for over 5 years. In this time, he has held personal postdoctoral fellowships from AXA and EPSRC at Imperial College London and completed his PhD thesis in the area of catalysts for CO2/epoxide co-polymerization.

Mike has an MChem from Oxford University, where he carried out a Masters research project in organometallic catalysis, sponsored by Johnson Matthey.


Dr. Rulande Rutgers

Head of Process and Product Engineering

Rulande is Econic’s Head of Process and Product Engineering and will drive the technology’s market adoption. Rulande has previous experience as director and consultant in new technology commercialisation.

At Plantic Technologies in Melbourne, Rulande led the R&D and manufacturing teams in the scale up of Plantic’s novel biodegradable renewable plastic to commercial production and shipment to multinational customers.

Prior to that Rulande was a senior lecturer at the University of Queensland in Australia, a McKinsey consultant in London, and a packaging development scientist at Procter & Gamble Europe.

Rulande has a PhD in Polymer Processing from Cambridge and an MEng/BSc In Chemical Engineering from the University of Delft.


Joel Dobberpuhl

Shareholder director

Joel Dobberpuhl is the CEO and founder of Jetstream Capital and serves as a shareholder director of Econic. His 20-year career as an equity portfolio manager included a $30 billion equity mutual fund at AIM Investments and Jetstream’s $1 billion global hedge fund. Joel leads a family office with his wife Holly where he is actively investing in public and private companies. Private-company investments are made through the Jetstream Venture Fund focusing on companies with high environmental and/or social impact, with an emphasis on novel and disruptive technologies. Through his family foundation he is also attempting to bring creative solutions to social impact investing and conservation.

Joel received a degree in Finance from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. He is also an owner of The Nashville Predators, an NHL hockey club.


Kelsey Lynn Skinner

Kelsey Lynn Skinner is Director, Technology Ventures at Touchstone Innovations and one of Econic’s shareholder directors. Kelsey joined Innovations in 2012 from Firelake Capital, a Palo Alto VC firm specialising in energy and materials science investments.

An engineer by training, Kelsey has worked in energy technology since 2003, including roles with Google’s green energy strategy group and Stanford’s Global Climate and Energy Project (GCEP).

Kelsey has a BSc and MSc in Mechanical Engineering & Thermodynamics from Stanford University, where she played fullback for the National Champions rugby team, and later studied for an MBA from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business.


Ian Jenks

Ian Jenks has more than 30 years of board-level experience, both as an investor and as CEO of operating companies in the U.S. and Europe. Most recently, Ian was Chairman of EVO Electric, Quantasol and Intune Networks. Previously Ian was a general partner with Palo Alto based VC firm Crescendo ventures where he invested across multiple business sectors. Prior to joining Crescendo, Ian was Chairman of Oplink Communications Inc., which he took public on NASDAQ in 2000.

Prior to Oplink, Ian was President of the Laser and Fiber Optic groups of Uniphase Inc. (now JDS Uniphase), where his responsibilities included the management of business operations in the United States, England, Switzerland and The Netherlands. Ian has also served as the CEO of Novalux Inc., and as Executive Chairman of IE Optomech Ltd.

Ian has a B.Sc. in Aeronautical Engineering from Bristol University.
